About
I have been involved in the field of public relations and marketing for over fifteen years both in a freelance capacity and through full-time employment with such companies as Coastal Credit Union, Fonville Morisey Realty and as an employee of WNCN in Raleigh, North Carolina.
As a member of the Community Outreach team, I was part of a ground-breaking project that brought WNCN to a whole new dimension of news coverage for the local market – MyNC.com. My role was to secure User Generated Content (UGC) from members of the community while at the same time providing her own editorial content whenever the need arose.
In my role as the Digital Media Marketing Director for Fonville Morisey corporate, I served over 12 branch offices, and 700 agents. My job was three-fold. I was the main content provider for all of our corporate social platforms, I instructed our agents and brokers on successful social media engagement, and alongside our marketing department, I assisted in securing new digital avenues for our company as a whole. I had a BIG job and I loved every minute of it!
In my most recent position, I served as a Public Relations Specialist for Coastal Federal Credit Union where I was largely responsible for Coastal’s social and digital media efforts as well as provides public relations support for various corporate marketing campaigns, and I lead the company’s Social Media Ambassador team. Additionally, as a member of the field events team, I organized and executed internal and external events keeping them on or under budget.
My digital prowess took me into the philanthropic world having served on the Boards of the Johnston Community College Foundation as well as the Garner Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Advisory Board. I continue to share knowledge of the digital space through speaking engagements when I am able.
Prior to entering the digital marketing realm, I spent many years as an English Teacher in both the public and private sectors.
In my spare time, I enjoy reading, the arts, going to the beach, being a spectator at local sporting events, and participating in local charity 5K runs.
This blog keeps me focused, entertains me, but hopefully, makes a difference to someone somewhere. Happy Reading!
