Help the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina WIN a $45K Grant From Walmart
Ponder on this for a moment –
In the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina service territory, there are an estimated 190,000 children who struggle with hunger.
The Food Bank of CENC covers 34 counties. Do the math. That’s roughly 5,588 children per county if we’re averaging things out. Of course, the Food Bank doesn’t operate that way, but still.
There is no way this is acceptable…at least not to me, it isn’t. BUT, we can all do something that is so incredibly easy, takes just 4 seconds (I timed it, but I also have a fast connection), and WA-LA! We’ve made a difference.
The Food Bank is currently vying for a $45,000 grant from the Walmart Foundation that would help their Kids Cafe programs out immensely. One of Walmart’s community giving initiatives is “Hunger Relief and Healthy Eating”. According to Walmart.com –
In 2010, Walmart and the Walmart Foundation launched “Fighting Hunger Together” – a $2 billion cash and in-kind commitment through 2015 to help end hunger in America. This initiative leverages Walmart’s size and resources to provide nutritious food and the Walmart Foundation’s ability to grant funding to nonprofits that help elevate the issue.
The $45,000 Grant opportunity that the Food Bank is vying for is just one of the initiatives launched for this endeavor. Help the Food Bank of CENC get that grant!
