A Collector’s Personality

I had to think about this one.

Today’s Sunday Scribblings prompt is all about the personality of a collector. I’ve never thought of myself as a collector, at least not in the “traditional” sense of the word. But, then I mulled over the prompt a little bit and I came to the conclusion that I am indeed a collector – a collector of antique tea cups, celebrity autographs, and stuffed bears.

When I was a child I used to collect postcards from every location we visited on vacation whether it would be the museums, the beaches, the harbors, the amusement parks. Wherever we went I had to get a postcard to remember my vacation experience.

I also used to collect t-shirts. All kinds. T-shirts again from vacation. T-shirts from concerts I attended. FREE T-shirts tossed out at festivals and ball games. T-shirts.

Well, I grew up and as I did, the collection of t-shirts found its way to the Salvation Army or Goodwill, the postcards, sadly in the trash, and even some of my stuffed bears, given away. Today, I have a few of the fuzzy little guys I used to collect but now instead of postcards or t-shirts as vacation mementos, I find tea cups to collect or pieces of jewelry. I’d love to show you some pictures of my favorites but unfortunately, they are still packed away in the boxes we moved with nearly two years ago.

I do still collect autographed pictures of celebrities. For some reason, I get a kick out of having my picture taken with the celebrities I admire and then purchasing a professional shot of them and having it signed to me. In fact, in my post “Once Again Time Escapes Me” you’ll see one celeb that graciously autographed his picture for me. I have yet to meet him but I will someday.

That’s my collector’s personality. Not quite eclectic but there nonetheless.

Smiles,

Lisa 🙂
