It’s Here!
OMG!! I thought this week would NEVER come. It’s Spring Break!! God Bless America! I have been so in need of a break for the last couple of months that by Thursday @ 3:10pm, I couldn’t get out of school fast enough. Yesterday, I slept in…not as late as I was hoping too, the husband set the alarm thinking I still had school! LOL 🙂
So, what am I doing for my Break? Well, last night I attended a wedding of a friend of ours. Tonight, the movie theatre next door has it’s Grand Opening and so Mike and I are going to check it out. FREE Popcorn too. This week, I’m going to relax, get up when I want to, clean the house (when I want to), play some golf. My mother comes into town for a little less than a week starting on Wednesday so I’ll do some “touristy” things with her, maybe even go to the beach overnight??
I plan to have a VERY NICE Break. We return back to school on Monday the 24th for six more weeks. I’m hoping my Break is long enough and enjoyable enough to put up with six more weeks of school. Will keep that in my prayers. Please do the same for me, will ya? I appreciate all prayers for relaxation!!

Anonymous (and I THINK I know who you are;))….my, my aren’t we sarcastic this early in the morning! I posted your comments because I whole-heartedly believe we are entitled to our own opinions. It is a free country after all.
I did the “business world” thing for 6 years before becoming a teacher and I do feel the pain of that ridiculous schedule too. Don’t get me wrong. Three weeks vacation isn’t NEARLY enough!!
I never said teachers were underpaid, though I believe they are but I understand why too since it all has to do with tax $$ and nothing to do with profit. What more can be done about that? Not a whole hell of a lot. So, I am realistic when it comes to the pay scale. Just fyi..
My pet peeve, teachers are not just teaching academics any more and then calling it a day. It’s so much more than that. We work 8 hours a day straight, no “lunch hour” (or half hour. Bathroom breaks…ummm….) We deal with meetings just like you do and a bunch of rigamarole similar to the corporate world. Our biggest difference comes from dealing with parents (especially those with lack of parenting skills) and disciplining the students. So, when you roll all that into one, our Breaks are much needed. Just ask my husband. As a Golf pro, the first time he did a summer camp with 40 kids of various ages, he came home the very first day and when he opened his mouth to answer the question, “How was your day?” he replied, “Now, I understand why teachers need the breaks that they do!”

Yeah, I hope that my spring break is quiet and restful so that I can endure another 6 weeks of work before getting the summer off…Oh wait, my job doesn’t give me a spring break and I work through summers. Additionally, I only get 10 holidays a year not every state and federal holiday and I only get 3 weeks of vacation. That must be why teachers are underpaid, or at least feel like they are. They don’t work as much as the rest of the world.
